Mumble Melody 1.2.6

The Mumble Melody App invites users interested in stuttering research and modulated auditory feedback to participate in our study. Developed by researchers at MIT, this application focuses on exploring novel auditory feedback modalities designed to enhance fluency for individuals who stutter (PWS).

This app is currently in development and is intended to gather user feedback to gain insights into which features are most beneficial for PWS. Users can engage with the app independently for speech training or during conversations, allowing them to explore various modes and presets to determine what minimizes distraction and maximizes efficacy for their individual needs. It is recommended that if users find themselves becoming accustomed to a particular mode, they should consider switching to another to maintain its effectiveness.

For optimal use, wired headphones or earbuds equipped with a built-in microphone are required. Users should avoid Bluetooth connections or external speakers to prevent issues related to audio feedback.

It is important to clarify that this application does not aim to cure or eliminate stuttering. Stuttering is a multifaceted condition that remains partially understood within the research community, encompassing significant social and identity-related dimensions. The primary objective of distributing this app is to collect user feedback, thus contributing to the advancement of scientific research on stuttering. Users should be aware that Musically Modulated Auditory Feedback may not yield positive results for everyone, as investigations into this area are ongoing.
